Follow these simple guidelings to prevent yeast-related problems
Foods to concentrate on- unless they cause an allergic reactions.
PROTEINS - Eggs, meats, fresh and saltwater fish (not farm raised) yogurt, fruit free and sugar free - not artifcially sweetened either, milk protein, egg protein, or lactose free whey protein
VEGETABLES - Most veggies, except carrots, parsnips, potatoes, beets and other high glycemic foods
FATS - Unprocessed vegetables oils, butter, nuts and seeds - remember peanuts are not a nut, and be careful of pistachios
BEVERAGES - Water, vegetable juice as long as it's not carrot juice
Foods that need to be eaten with caution -If at all possible avoid these foods too. any food with a high glycemic index may nourish candida. A high glycemic index is an indication of how rapidly it breaks down.
Whole grains - corn, rice, millet, buck wheat, quinoa
High-carb vegetables - carrots, beets, peas, squash, yams and corn
Unleavened breads - Examples include the chapatis of India, bammy from Jamaica (made with cassava root flour), and flatkaka, a rye flatbread made in Iceland.
These are foods that you will try to avoid - unfortunately this list is bigger than the allowed list, but isn't that always the case?
Basically you want to stay away from sugars and simple carbohydrates. You also want to avoid fermented, moldy and yeast containing foods. These would be processed and smoked meats, cheeses, coffee and teas (which are a source of molds), leftovers (another possible source of yeasts and molds), fermented bean products, condiments such as vinegar, horseradish, commercial tomato sauces, sauerkraut, mayo and salad dressing are just a few examples.
You also want to avoid refined starches, breads, pastries and raised (leavened) bakery goods. Alcoholic beverages, dairy products except live yogurt, and fruit juices, dried fruit and candied fruit.
